about

Johnny Mack on bass and drum programming
Gary on guitar
I'm really doing a "Jared Hayley" here. Water Margin was one of the greatest rock bands on the 90's but I think they only released a single and it did not capture their true grandeur. They were an Austin band and I saw them play once; it was like a small hurricane. Stacey Spitzenberger was the drummer and leader of the band (I think it's safe to call him that); he was obsessive and ambitious and could be a little frighteningly intense. Raymond S. Porter, one of my best friends, who you can hear on various Mammals of Zod albums, sang; Jared Hayley, who is now a daddy and an English professor and a poet (he wrote the song "Dirt and not Copper" from the Fist of Kindness Electric Objects album-- fistofkindness.bandcamp.com/track/dirt-and-not-copper) played guitar; and probably the most important ingredient was John McLaughlin's amazing bass playing. (He goes by Johnny Mack now to avoid confusion with another musician.) It is a shame that one can't find Water Margin music anywhere, but I could say the same about a number of great bands.
