about

In Greensboro I thought maybe I’d concentrate on my guitar playing since everyone thought it was more my strong suit, so I put together the best rockers I could find, and recruited this divinity student who had great pipes. He had too much going on and we barely got started with him before he had to bow out to school and family pressures. I had to find another singer. Luckily my buddy Micah James was into singing and I recruited him. We wrote an album of tunes together and played a few gigs, including one with the biggest bands on the Triad scene, Totally Slow and Black Haus. If anyone offers us a gig we’ll take it.

I suggested calling the band Despair because that was really how I felt about life. I mean, I had a great life, what was I moaning about? The name was a real buzzkill. I thought people would relate, that it would make them laugh, and they did, but it was kind of nervous laughter. I think it might work better a little deeper into the Armageddon.
